Large unknown cats killing livestock in Oklahoma
There was a tv show on the History Channel today about reports of black cats killing livestock in Oklahoma. Several farmers within a few miles of each
other have found the remains of cattle and also, according to one news report; llamas, goats, chickens and turkeys.
Eyewitnesses have reported seeing a large black cat in the area, but wildlife officials insist that coyotes are to blame. Tracks have been found in
the area that are not coyote tracks. Maybe jaguars from Mexico may have migrated as far north as Oklahoma. Jaguars once ranged from South America into
the American southwest, but were extirpated from Arizona, New Mexico and Texas by the beginning of the 20th century. The Borderlands Jaguar Detection
Project has proved definitively that jaguars are reentering the southwestern United States. Game cameras have photographed at least 26 cats just in
Arizona since the mid 1990's.
Another theory is that exotic pets that escaped or were released are responsible. So far no humans have been harmed.

There seems to be a lot of reports of large black cats all over the place. I forget another show that had a show on this.

There are - even here we had a big cat sighting blow up down south.......In our case we are lucky - we know the only place they have migrated from
could be a park or private owner lol Unless they like swimming - a lot! lol

Jaguars came up from Central America, and probably were drawn/forced into North America due to global warming and infringements on their native
territory.
The black cats are probably the offspring of black pumas or Jaguars who escaped from the private collections of their owners. It only takes two such
creatures to start a family. In the right area, they could build a breeding population.

There's also always speculation of interbreeding with the smaller large cat species, and feral cats, which are generally bigger than domestics. Often
the cross breeds they speculate can be infertile or have fertility problems, hence the sporadic sightings in some areas.
Its an interesting theory.

The part that gets me is they have found tracks in several locations. How much more proof do the "experts" want?

I know what you mean..
No matter how much proof you get, someone will always doubt it. Its nice in a way though, keeps a lot of the hoaxes at bay.

Large feral cats can certainly incite confusion. I once had a large Siamese cat, semi-feral, who hung around my house some years back. For all the
world, he looked like a dark-colored puma. Sort of rusty brown w/chocolate highlights, and massively muscled. Petting him was like petting a rock. But
he was cool, though. He will be missed.

I decided to glance through a few books I have on cryptozoology, and the closet match to the description of this animal was something known as the
"Mngwa."

Typically sighted in the regions of Africa, the first reported encounter with this creature was over 100 years ago.
